Purpose
To foster, preserve and defend the common interests of the churches in Detroit and its Greater Metropolitan area, which hold membership in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; to foster and support Christian education; to foster and support charities; to operate a Lutheran bookstore; and further engage in such enterprises as may be of service to or for the benefit of the Lutheran clergy and laity of Greater Detroit.
DETROIT LUTHERAN TO CEASE PUBLICATION WITH JUNE ISSUE
After 68 years of serving Michigan, the Detroit Lutheran will cease publication with the June issue. The Board of Directors of the Lutheran Center Association, which publishes the Detroit Lutheran, reluctantly made the decision at its March board meeting. Mounting financial losses due to the cost of printing the paper, dwindling subscriptions, and too little news to print are the main reasons that the paper is closing.
The Board and staff at the Lutheran Center Association have worked hard over the last two years to keep the paper open and growing, but in the end, had to give in to the same realities that other newspapers in southeast Michigan and across the country are also facing.
While the paper will be ceasing publication, the Bookstore, the Council of Lutheran Women, and the Center's annual Luther Fest will continue. Subscribers who wish a refund on their subscription may do so in writing. Send your request to Barb Collins at 17250 Stone Drive, Clinton Township, MI 48038 and a refund will be issued.
The Lutheran Center Association Board wishes to thank all of its subscribers for their loyalty, support, and patience over the years.
