DETROIT LUTHERAN TO CEASE PUBLICATION WITH JUNE ISSUE

After 68 years of serving Michigan, the Detroit Lutheran will cease publication with the June issue. The Board of Directors of the Lutheran Center Association, which publishes the Detroit Lutheran, reluctantly made the decision at its March board meeting. Mounting financial losses due to the cost of printing the paper, dwindling subscriptions, and too little news to print are the main reasons that the paper is closing.

The Board and staff at the Lutheran Center Association have worked hard over the last two years to keep the paper open and growing, but in the end, had to give in to the same realities that other newspapers in southeast Michigan and across the country are also facing.

While the paper will be ceasing publication, the Bookstore, the Council of Lutheran Women, and the Center's annual Luther Fest will continue. The Lutheran Center Association Board wishes to thank all of its subscribers for their loyalty, support, and patience over the years.Photo of Detroit Lutheran newspaper
